Jupiter Stations Retrograde, Mars Enters Leo - At Last! Love and Relationships Enhanced.

Media astrologer Shelley Ackerman of radio and TV brings her astrological insights to Wedlok.com in a weekly horoscope column every Thursday.

ShelleyAckerman-photobyRichPress.jpg

Look for a boon to love, romance and relationships in general, as our men will be a lot more motivated to take action.

For more than seven months, fiery Mars, the planet of drive and physical prowess has been back and forth in watery Cancer. On May 9, the God of War enters Leo (through July 1st), a sign in which the red planet is extremely comfortable and able to express himself with greater ease and confidence.

At the same time, Jupiter, planet of plenty, turns retrograde for four months, encouraging us to literally hold our horses before jumping in to anything while providing the opportunity to rethink our financial and relationship philosophies. For example, this is not the time for a quickie marriage in Vegas for couple's who barely know one another!

Amplifying this “measure twice and cut once” energy, is Mercury’s entrance into the pre-retrograde shadow period on May 12. This happens three times a year.

While the retrograde itself doesn’t kick in until Memorial Day (May 26), this slowing down phase is a precursor. During this time, it’s especially wise to be careful with all travel and communication. If it’s your habit to blab on a cell phone in public- do so at your won risk. Someone other than the person on the other end may be listening to your every word.

Saturn Stations Direct, Mercury Enters Gemini, and a Cinco de Mayo New Moon in Taurus

Media astrologer Shelley Ackerman of radio and TV brings her astrological insights to Wedlok.com in a weekly horoscope column every Thursday.

ShelleyAckerman-photobyRichPress.jpg

Before getting into the meaning of the New Moon in Taurus on May 5th, let’s briefly touch on the significance of the Saturn “station” on May 2nd, and Mercury’s entrance into quixotic Gemini where the Messenger God will “commute” back and forth for ten weeks (including a retrograde from 5/26--6/19), through July 10th!

Since late last December, Saturn, the Lord of Karma and hard work, has been traveling retrograde (in apparent reverse motion) in exacting Virgo. This hasn’t been easy for anyone, and it’s been especially tough on Capricorns, Aquarians, and Virgo: Tasks that are usually accomplished effortlessly have exhausted the heartiest among us.

The economic recession has prompted lots of talk, but no one’s really been able to do much about it. But when on May 2nd Saturn stations (appears to stand still), and begins to slowly go forward once again, some of the stuck energy will start to dissipate and after the New Moon on May 5th we will at least feel some positive mojo and momentum return to our lives! Olé!

Venus Completes Stint in Willful Aries, Enters Taurus on April 30

Media astrologer Shelley Ackerman of radio and TV brings her astrological insights to Wedlok.com in a weekly horoscope column every Thursday.

ShelleyAckerman-photobyRichPress.jpg

Whenever a planet enters it’s “home sign” (the astrological sign that it rules), there’s a welcomed sense of things being right - at least in one part of the world.

Since Venus rules sweetness, love, and romance, and Taurus is the sign of physical pleasure and sensuality, there’s a lot to look forward to. In the meantime, it’s a good idea to use the fire and drive of Venus in Aries energy productively: Stay out of arguments, and focus on getting things done by the end of the month, so that we can relax into and savor the range of earthly delights that Venus in Taurus has to offer.

Mercury and The Sun Enter Taurus, A Scorpio Full Moon, and Earth Day 2008

Media astrologer Shelley Ackerman of radio and TV brings her astrological insights to Wedlok.com in a weekly horoscope column every Thursday.

ShelleyAckerman-photobyRichPress.jpg

On Friday April 17, Mercury, the planet of communication and transportation, enters Taurus.

Thoughts slow down and though the words take more time, they are more grounded and literally have more weight. That energy is further amplified when the Sun enters lusty Taurus on April 19th.

This weekend’s Full Moon in Scorpio, and grand trine (a harmonious alliance between planets in the same element) between the Sun/Mercury, Saturn and Pluto provides a rare combination of dramatic and productive energy to get things moving in both our financial and our romantic lives.

How astrologically perfect that Earth Day is always celebrated on April 22 with the Sun in Taurus?

This year however, the Moon is ‘void of course’* in Scorpio till 5:07 pm EDT, so it’s a good idea to lay low, do what you must to get through the day, but not make any major purchases or promises you won’t be able to keep.

First Quarter Moon, The Taxman Cometh

Media astrologer Shelley Ackerman of radio and TV brings her astrological insights to Wedlok.com in a weekly horoscope column every Thursday.

ShelleyAckerman-photobyRichPress.jpg

Shelley's Weekly Forecast for all 12 Signs:

ARIES: As a rule, you’re most at home in the eye of a storm. But this week, you’re cast in the unlikely role of referee and loving it! Who’d have imagined that learning how the other half lives could be such a blast? You’ve discovered a lot about yourself in the past few months, and perhaps most surprising is that you have much more patience and (dare I say) maturity than you ever realized. So how do you like your new job?

TAURUS: For some reason, tax season is especially stressful for you this year, and it needn’t be. You’re better organized than you think, and even if you’re not, you can fake it better than anyone. Worth considering: is whether or not it’s best for you to file a single return, even if you’re married. And if you’re single, two eyes are better than one- meaning, have a pro do it and then go over it yourself. Once this is out of the way, look into an overseas investment property that you’ll be able to get for a song.

Aries New Moon; Venus Exits Pisces, Enters Aries

Media astrologer Shelley Ackerman of radio and TV brings her astrological insights to Wedlok.com in a weekly horoscope column every Thursday.

This weekend's New Moon in Aries moves stuck energy and brings a fiery awakening to where you most need one.

Pregnant Man on Oprah

Last week, I was privileged to be at Harpo Studios for the taping of Oprah’s show on the world’s first pregnant man which airs today, April 3rd.

While it’s easy to dismiss the show as sensationalist or Jerry Springer-like, Oprah’s intention with it was to open us all to diversity and tolerance.

At the conclusion of the film “Mrs. Doubtfire”, the divorced Robin Williams (in drag) told his young television audience that there are all kinds of families today. Some are extended, some have two mommies or two daddies, and that love was the key ingredient for any kind of family.

Aries is a fire sign. As we approach the New Moon, we need to eliminate “doubt” and embrace new possibilities.

Where there is love, there can be no fear.

Editors note: This show will repeat late at night in some markets. For more info go to Oprah.com

Last Quarter Moon n Capricorn and Sun Square Mars makes for an action-packed, purpose driven weekend.

Shelley's Weekly Forcast for all 12 Signs:

ARIES: There are six more weeks of Mars in Cancer to endure, and to avoid any and all unnecessary scuffles with family, be extremely clear about the extent of your involvement and overall availability between now and May 9th. On March 30th, keep a romance private and a creative venture to yourself. Why even open the door to unwelcome comments or criticism? On April 2nd Mercury enters Aries and while the words will flow that much easier, take pains to think before speaking. Pluto’s reversal in your career house begins a five month period of professional re-evaluation. Take your time.

Spring Equinox 2008: The Sun Enters Aries, Then a Full Moon in Libra. Brace yourselves, we’re in for one heck of a Spring.

ShelleyAckerman-photobyRichPress.jpg

Each year the Sun’s entrance into Aries marks the beginning of the Astrological New Year. Using the analogy of a garden or a business, the relationship part of your life is up for a renewal. Renegotiating the terms based on the growth of the past few months is necessary for it to thrive. The Full Moon on the 21st will up the ante and bring several hidden issues to the surface. Stay tuned.

Shelley's Weekly Forcast for all 12 Signs:

ARIES: It’s your time of year, so are you ready for active duty or not? The cardinal grand cross on the 21st will have life coming at you with demands from all sides. Like your other cardinal counterparts (Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn) the challenge is to stay heart-centered and to pick your battles. But if you ask me, say “no” to all battles for now and let everyone around you duke it out, if they’re so inclined. The cooler you keep your head, the better you’ll prevail.

Venus and Mars Align For Romantic Weekend

Water, Water Everywhere…

water stream small.jpg

Imminent celestial activity suggests we're about to be flooded by an overwhelming glut of emotional and romantic activity!

From March 13-19, the last week of the astrological year (the Sun enters Aries on March 20), more than half of the planets are in water signs.

Water is a conductor. It is the most powerful element there is and it can make its way anywhere. Astrologically, water signs are emotional, psychic, and empathic. So whether you’re a nurturing, family-oriented Cancer, a mysterious and over-sexed Scorpio, or a musical, spiritual and artistic Pisces, or have an emphasis or any of your planets in the aforementioned water signs, you’re probably all too aware of the depth of sensitivity in that particular area of your life.

Unless you’re poet or novelist, you’ve often struggled to convey to those closest to you, exactly what you’re feeling. With water types, words alone just don’t seem to cut it.

The Sun, Venus, and Uranus in Pisces will be joined by Mercury in the sign of the fish on March 14. The Moon and Mars will be ‘out of bounds’ in Cancer through most of the weekend. Out of Bounds planets (planets that are - by declination - traveling above or below the usual path of the zodiac belt) express themselves in a way that exceeds the typical range of expression.

For example: Mars out of bounds, would be more physical and perhaps more violent. The Moon out of bounds, would demand emotional expression and might be baby-ish in its expectation for unlimited attention or reassurance. With both the Moon and Mars together and out of bounds, and there is a recipe for madness and a potential increase in domestic violence, at least on March 14, 15 & 16. Beware the Ides of March indeed!

ARIES: A question: Is it worse to feel out of control or to actually be out of control? The build-up of planets in your hidden 12th house are hard to reach and even harder to understand. Your element is fire and all of this water could dampen your spirit, but why let it? When you don’t know what to do, it’s best to do nothing. This week, your moves should be inspired by floating and swimming. Be as gentle with yourself as you possibly can: The liaison between Venus and Mars on the 15th/16th opens the door to sublime sensuality.

TAURUS: Your ruling planet, Venus, now in your 11th house of group activities is as active this week as a well-connected socialite in a $10 thousand dollar dress (or tux) at a gala. All of the moves are orchestrated to help elevate you and further your cause and they will work out very well if you promise stay out of your own way! On the 13th a legal deal may finally be struck between you and a foreigner or professorial type. Delicious romance is possible on the 15th/16th but you must be discreet at all costs.

This Week: A Toast to Change on the Pisces New Moon. Mars opposes Pluto for the last time till 2010. Daylight Savings Time Begins, and Sweet Venus Enters Empathetic Pisces

ShelleyAckerman-photobyRichPress.jpg

Hours before the Pisces New Moon on March 7, feisty Mars will oppose Pluto for the last time until 2010. The confrontational and potentially explosive opposition occurs at the first degree of the cardinal signs Cancer and Capricorn, adding potency and import to the New Moon, wherever that happens to fall in your chart.

Just as the Mars/Pluto opposition impacted the charts of the two leading Democratic contenders, it is likely to shake things up in nearly everyone's life, as it occurs within a degree of Uranus, the great awakener, and the asteroid Bacchus, the God of Wine and fertility.

The Sabian Symbol for 18 Pisces: “A revivalist erects a huge tent, conducts a meeting and gives a spectacular performance”. A romantic or creative revival can be yours for the asking. Not bad.

The New Moon promises wild times, a shake up in a part of our life that has become stale, and one hell of a wicked hangover if we succumb to Bacchus’ seductive invite to an open bar. FYI: Bacchus is also the God of Fertility, so if babies are on your mind (or not), earth and water signs could conceivably conceive.
