Eva Longoria engaged to Tony Parker - From Desperate Housewife to Bride-to-Be

Just last spring Eva Longoria was pictured looking mighty sexy on the cover of Maxim Magazine in photos taken in the Las Vegas desert. She partied in Las Vegas as the magazine celebrated the issue, in which she was hailed as "Maxim's Hottest Female Star" (for the second year in a row).

About a month ago she was spotted at Rumor, at Caesar's Palace.

Speaking of rumors ... there have been plenty ... including that she and her boyfriend, basketball star Tony Parker, were in the outs.

As of Wednesday night, that rumor went out ... the window! Tony popped the question to her when she came home from work. Longoria traded in being a Desperate Housewife for bride-to-be.

Word has it he flew home unexpectedly from a game. Slipped into her house to prepare a romantic ambiance. And surprised her by not only being there unexpectedly amidst candle light, but by asking her to marry him.

A spokesperson says they will marry in France in a big celebration in 2007. I don't think they mean the lovely chapels at the Paris Hotel - the groom comes from the country , France!

The bride promised that she will not take the hush-hush celebrity route to the altar and will instead be sharing her up coming nuptials with the world. It is a sweet notion to not want to block people, but let's hope that no one takes advantage of that open door policy.

My advice?

* They should figure out their game plan before getting too many cooks in the kitchen (media, family, fans, co-stars) and have some good boundaries in place, while being of generous spirit.

* They've got to include stress management, self-nurturing, and time to chill out as an integral part of the wedding planning process. Celebrities are especially under pressure and in a fish bowl, and they should do things that help them stay centered.

* Make an agreement to make decisions together, and back each other up. Support each other! Even if it means Tony just follows the groom's mating call, "Yes honey ... whatever you want."

* They ought to be prepared to do some inner work along with all the external preparations. Honor and address the fears that arise. Trust they are natural.

Big weddings can stir up big stress. Hope they nip that in the bud.

Congratulations to Eva and Tony! Great news!
