Liz Hurley Criticized for Weddings, Hailed for Best Body
By Rev. Laurie Sue Brockway
We can stop worrying about the big drama over Liz Hurley's Hindu Nuptials.
Last couple of weeks she was branded a "criminal" for having a Hindu religious ceremony, following a Church of England religious ceremony. She was criticized for saying multiple "I Dos" and number of technical reasons were cited. I was criticized for not getting all my facts straight in the story, and for defending interfaith marriage and right to choose the kind of ceremony you want under any circumstances.
But the world has regained a sense of priority and Liz is once again back to being hot -- technically, and by popular vote.
Hurley, 41, is being called the woman with "the body most women would like to have." Hmmmm ... with all due respect to her new hubby, I don't think women are the only ones! She is certainly a gal who looks good in anything from a bikini to a wedding sari!
Newlywed Liz has been voted number one in a New Woman Magazine poll of British Body Idols.
Helen Johnston, the editor, warns that a form like Liz's - pencil thin yet curvy -- is likely a full time job that requires a lot of work and very little food. The magazine says Liz confesses "she eats just one full meal a day and snacks on six raisins, while watercress soup is a staple of her diet."
Don't try that at home kids!
The issues related to interfaith marriage and dual ceremonies are still close to my heart, and I thought the controversy around her nuptials brought a lot of important issues to the fore. Made us think. Stirred people up. Perhaps winning a best British body poll is the prize for taking so much heat over her weddings. So congrats Liz. It's like getting the guy ... and winning homecoming queen.
