Mick Jagger Mourns His Dad - Ex-Wives and Girlfriends Attend Funeral

Sir Mick Jagger is, perhaps, a valiant prince afterall.

In the midst of the Rolling Stone's "Bigger Bang" Tour, he flew to the bedside of his ailing father, who was hospitalized in England. Joe Jagger, 93, had taken a fall in his home and his hospitalization was complicated by pneumonia.

Obviously, he did not want to leave Dad's side, but, Mick Jagger jetted back to Las Vegas in time for his scheduled concert at MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Sadly, Joe Jagger, passed on November 12, right before the Las Vegas show. Mick made no mention of his loss and the show went on. Perhaps letting the show go on was the best was to deal with his shock and grief.

At the recent funeral of the elder Jagger in England, Mick was, interestingly, surrounded by many of his former loves and baby mommies. By all accounts, it was a peaceful reunion of the Mick Jagger Ex-Wives and Current-Girlfriend Club.

On hand were: Mick's first wife, Bianca Jagger, mother of daughter Jade, and second wife, Jerry Hall, mother of Elizabeth, James, Georgia and Gabriel.

Marsha Hunt, mother of daughter Karis born in 1970, was reportedly there, along with Mick's current American girlfriend, stylist L’Wren Scott.

Luciana Morad, Brazilian model and the mother of his son Lucas, was not in the house.

Mick was close to his dad, even though at the start of the Rolling Stones, Joe was not happy about his son's choice of careers. He wanted Mick to go into finance. Well, guess he did!

The story of how Joe Jagger passed, and how Mick got the news just before going on stage sounds very dramatic, but truth is, that it is actually very common for a parent or grandparent to wait until loved ones leave the room to pass over.

Even until they end, parents are often still thinking of their children, and not wanting to "get in the way" of their important plans. They will hold on long enough to see us one last time, and then, quietly, when we are back in our worlds, they leave this world.

As a minister I have heard this time and again.

What a blessing that Joe lived such a long life, and got to see the success of his offspring and to become a grandfather many times over. The other blessing is that the death of a loved one brings civility to people, and calms angry hearts. Often times, it is a healing.

The fact that Mick was able to grieve with so many of the loves of his life speaks of a healing or sorts. Or at least a truce.

Here's a prayer for the Jagger family, and all those who have experienced a loss, to help us remember that the spirit of those who come into our lives never truly leave us.

Do not stand here today and weep.
I am not truly away from you. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond on the snow.
I am the sunlight ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you wake in the morning hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush,
of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.
So do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there. I did not die
