Royal Wedding Set for a Popular Wedding Weekend

Prince William and Kate Middleton may be stealing the thunder from many other couples set to wed on the same day.

Hitched.co.uk, the UK's leading wedding website, has revealed that the Royal Wedding date of Friday 29 April is on an already busy wedding weekend.

Dean Yardley, managing director of Hitched.co.uk, explains: "We calculate that 1,108 other couples have already chosen that Friday with as many as 7,000 weddings planned for that long weekend. That weekend is twice as busy for weddings compared to the preceding or following ones. Bank holiday weekends are always popular for weddings because when the Monday is a holiday, we often see the Sunday even busier than the Saturday. The choice of month too is a factor as April marks the start of the wedding season, with the promise of brighter sunshine and warmer temperatures."
