Get married at the Las Vegas Marathon
Athletic couples interested in running a marathon and getting married at the same time have that option with the New Las Vegas Marathon.
The 2006 race is set for Sunday, December 10.
Last year’s race marked the first time in history that the famous Las Vegas Strip was closed for a private event. Organizers promise a similar route this year, including the portion along the Strip.
And for those of you dying to tie the knot in your sweaty running digs, you can do that too. Last year about 30 couples were married or renewed their marriage vows near mile five at the A Special Memory Wedding Chapel. The marathon begins at 6 a.m. and the wedding ceremonies, conducted by Reverend William Petersen, begin about 7:15 a.m.
If you’re competing for top honors in the marathon a stop at the world’s only run-thru wedding chapel is ill advised. But if you want a memorable wedding ceremony, this just may be your ticket. And if you start training now, you can probably endure the 26.2 miles and set the pace for a great future together.
Information is available on the New Las Vegas Marathon website.
