The Flamingo Las Vegas Will Be Wedding Central on 7-7-07

Everyone is talking about 7-7-07. Some call it "the luckiest day of the millennium."

Couples around the country are booking this wedding date like crazy. Las Vegas will host a huge number of nuptials that day. Come to town and you will likely see a sea of white dresses, tuxedos and limos parading along the Las Vegas Strip!

The Garden Chapel at Flamingo Las Vegas noticed a surge in wedding bookings for this day a while back and decided to shoot for the best luck possible. They came up with a very cool idea!

They will host 77 weddings on 7/7/07. They will utilize 7 venues on property, including a number of poolside weddings, to accommodate all those lucky couples.

Some local Las Vegas couples are among the lucky 77 but Kris LaBuda, Flamingo Garden Chapel Manager, tells us that 94 per cent of the couples are coming in from out of town to wed.

LaBuda and staff are gearing up to be “Wedding Central” on this day. On very busy Saturday during the peak of Las Vegas' wedding season there would be about 31 weddings. So they will be handling more than double the love -- and logistics!

We asked Kris LaBuda 7 questions about the Big Day:

Must all weddings be scheduled in advance?

All the weddings are prearranged. Some couples booked more than a year ago. At one time we included a list of lucky or auspicious dates along with our wedding brochure. Naturally, 7.7.7 was included.

Can a couple still book the date at The Flamingo?

We do have one more opening available at this point, and I am sure we will get that spot filled.

Is 77 your absolute cut off? What if you get requests for more bookings?

The temptation will be there to book more than 77, but we're going to stick to our lucky number, the same as our brides and grooms.

Any particular requests for the type of ceremony? Anything related to the number 7?

The bride's are asking for traditional ceremonies, they are really planning momentous occasions.

Why is 7-7-07 such a hot wedding date?

As you know, dates and times for weddings have been selected for their auspiciousness for centuries. This date is certainly a date which will be life changing for many people. It represents Good fortune.

Any other special, hidden reason?

The vast majority of coupes have chosen this date because in addition to potentially being extra lucky, they know it is a date they will remember! Or, even more so, one their husband's will remember.

Will Las Vegas ever top 7-7-07 as an auspicious wedding day?

You may already realize that 8.8.8 falls on a Friday next year, so we may see this phenomena again then!
