Paula Abdul causes security problem at Vegas’ McCarran International Airport
Just weeks after Paula Abdul made news in Las Vegas for upsetting workers at a local hotel and casino, she is back in the news for an apparent security breach at McCarran International Airport, Las Vegas.
It seems she was allowed to board a plane at the Las Vegas airport without passing through a security checkpoint, prompting all passengers and luggage to be screened when they landed in California.
It was reported that a worker led the "American Idol" judge and a companion around the mandatory screening process before they boarded a Southwest Airlines flight headed to Burbank, Calif., Thursday afternoon, said Elaine Sanchez, a spokeswoman for McCarran International Airport.
She said she could not confirm reports that the employee was trying to help the pop star avoid a swarm of fans.
Federal Transportation Safety Administration officials were alerted to the security breach while the plane was in the air. An internal investigation to see who exactly was responsible is being conducted.
According to reports, a worker led the "American Idol" judge and a companion around the mandatory screening process before they boarded a Southwest Airlines flight headed to Burbank, Calif., Thursday afternoon. It is believed that the employee was trying to help the pop star avoid a swarm of fans.
The person who took Abdul past the checkpoint worked for an airport tenant, but not Southwest. Authorities would not identify the worker while the investigation was under way.
The incident at the Silverton Hotel a few weeks ago also had to do with an airline flight. At that time, two employees claimed to be fired when Abdul didn't get the flight she desired. Maybe the airport employee was trying to avoid joining the former Silverton workers at the unemployment line.
