Is Your Wedding Date Written In The Stars?
Wedding Goddess Wisdom
Every day is a wedding day in Las Vegas … but some days are more popular than others.
Valentine’s Day is an amazing love fest in this town because couples love to get hitched on the holiday of hearts – it’s so romantic! New Year’s Eve is a second runner up – gives you a fresh start, as you launch into a new beginning, together.
Makes you wonder … does getting married on a meaningful holiday ensure a happy, long lasting marriage? Well, could be that selecting an auspicious wedding day can at least roll the dice in your favor ... and Las Vegas is the perfect place to plan a wedding that is slated for what is considered a lucky day!
In the Hindu, Buddhist and other Asian traditions it is customary for Bride and groom or their parents to consult an astrologer for a date that would be the most auspicious for the wedding. That tradition has caught on with couples in the west.
Working with an “auspicious date” in the world of wedding planning is sometimes easier said than done, since there are venues, vendors and scheduling logistics to deal with. However, Las Vegas makes it so much easier because the hours and opportunities are so flexible.
Couples of Chinese descent are among those making a mad dash to the altar this year because of auspicious qualities represented in the Year of the Dog (which began on the Chinese New Year January 29 and lasts through February 17, 2007).
This lunar year is a phenomenon is because it has 13 months that also span two “lichun,” which translates into two ‘beginnings of spring,’ (Feb 4, 2006 and 2007). Spring time is auspicious (new beginnings) so double spring time brings extra blessings. There is a Chinese Proverb that says: “Double beginnings of spring and 13 months make a perfect year for weddings.”
Why is this important? Prosperity, health, happiness and long life are sought in many forms in the Chinese culture. it is believed a good wedding date will give a couple the best accesses to the best things in life.
Year of the Dog aside, it is common to explore the best date in any given year to launch a marriage – or any new venture. Some couples select a wedding date because the number represents good fortune. For centuries, the Chinese Almanac, or “Tong Shu,” has been used for selecting dates.
“Joey Yap's Tong Shu Diary” is a favorite. Find out more at: http://www.masteryacademy.com/products/tongshu2006.asp.
For couples who are not familiar with eastern cultures, an auspicious date might be any date that is meaningful to you both – such as an anniversary or special occasion. Or you can choose a date that is astrologically significant.
Top Astrologer Shelley Ackerman (http://www.karmicrelief.com/), says: “It is important for modern couples to consult an astrologer to find a perfect date, time and place – which is different from having a great party.”
Essentially, the moment you say “I Do” is the time your marriage is born.
Ackerman explains that your marriage has an astrological birth time based on the time of your ceremony, which is why it is important to pick a time and date that will bring your union plenty of luck and support from the stars.
Back to practical living … keep in mind that you can ask an astrologer for several options to work with!
