eHarmony makes match of Vegas couple
Vegas residents Mike Vaccari and Regina Bacolas had never been married. They were still in search of that someone special.
On Dec. 26, 2005 they were ‘matched’ by eHarmony, had their first date on Jan. 8, and six weeks later were married in Laguna Beach, Calif.
They both love the outdoors — biking, running, hiking and camping — and can’t get enough of the local health food fare.
So, it’s no surprise that the first thing that caught their attention online was that they both had Whole Foods Market listed as one of the top five things they just couldn’t live without.
After their first phone conversation they realized they lived just two miles from each other in Summerlin. eHarmony must have had a premonition about these two.
Prior to meeting they emailed for two weeks, only speaking on the phone once. It didn’t take long to realize that in each other they had found just what they had hoped for, and more. Mike and Regina say they both knew after their first date that they were meant for each other. Three weeks later they were engaged and planning a wedding.
Before they knew each other, they both lived in Los Angeles where they developed a true love of the beach. They debated on doing the Vegas wedding chapel thing — getting married here first and then heading to the coast for a more formal ceremony — but Mike grew up in Vegas so that idea just didn’t seem glamorous enough. Instead they opted to elope and have an intimate wedding ceremony on Feb. 18 at Laguna Beach.
The couple is having a reception dinner with family in late April and plan to honeymoon in October.
In the near future they plan to return to school to secure graduate degrees, buy a home, and visit Alaska where Regina was raised.
Mike grew up in Las Vegas and went to school in LA at USC majoring in civil engineering. He currently works as a construction project manager for a large, local builder. Regina grew up in Anchorage, Alaska, graduated from UNR in journalism, and currently works as a communications specialist at UNLV.
