Marry Yourself in a Self-Love Ceremony for One

CATEGORIZED AS: Blessings , Highest Love , Love , Sacred Relationships , Self Help

Holiday season is typically engagement season. Many grooms pop the question with a shinny Christmas ring. But what if you are single and still would like to have a special ceremony? Try this self love ceremony.

Woman in mirror cropped.jpg

When I teach relationship readiness seminars, I have people look into a mirror into their own eyes and recite vows to themselves. In essence, they marry themselves, first. The following is an abbreviated sample ceremony, just to get you started.

1. Light a candle and bring light into the room.

2. Say a brief prayer: Divine Spirit of all there is, please fill this place with your sacred presence. Support me in my efforts to express my love for self. Help me see my own divinity. Amen.

3. Sit down and meditate on the qualities you most honor in yourself.

4. Write down three vows that are personally meaningful to you: " I adore you … I love your strength and wisdom … I will promise to love and honor you … etc."

5. When you feel ready, look into the mirror and connect with your own eyes and read the vows to yourself. It may be uncomfortable at first, but you can transcend that. Your self-love vows will send a powerful message to your subconscious mind.

6. Celebrate your union with self with a sip of something sweet.

7. Play celebratory music.

8. Dance … and feel the love.

Need a shorter version? Every time you pass a mirror, smile and look deeply into your own eyes.

Open Your Heart ... to Yourself

CATEGORIZED AS: Sacred Relationships , Self Help

By Laurie Sue Brockway

Let 2010 be the year you make some big dreams come true! Whether you are heading toward the altar or still searching for your true love, learning to honor yourself is the key to success.

flower.jpg

We may say we want love, success, and happiness, but we don’t always back up our dreams with self honoring actions.

Without self-honoring, we have no foundation to uphold or contain love, self esteem, and true potential. Someone can love you with more heart than you ever imagined, but where will it go if you have no internal mechanism for recognizing pure love? The universe can shower you with opportunities, but you will miss the best plums on the tree because you won’t think you deserve to reach for them.

Self Love Meditation: Take 10 to 20 minutes every morning to center yourself and meditate to a piece of music that feels heart-opening to you. One that I like is this moving and soul stirring chant, “Open My Heart,” by Ana Hernandez and Ruth Cunningham, off their CD HARC: Inside Chants.

rituals_for_love_and_romance.jpg

In addition to daily rituals (e.g., making coffee, reading emails, going to work) and life event rituals (e.g., weddings and funerals), there are rituals and ceremonies that allow us to combine the everyday ordinary with the highly spiritual. This kind of ritual or ceremony gives us an opportunity to enact an experience we would like to create in our lives as if it were already so. It also gives us a chance to spiritually heal emotional wounds.

Ritual and ceremony arouses emotions and sends signals to the psyche in a positive way, and in doing so begins to bring us closer to our goals — or draw our desires closer to us. The rituals and ceremonies presented in this ebook are designed to help you begin to spiritually connect with the life you want to live — a life filled with self-honoring, appreciation, beauty and love. And, your soulmate and true love.

In this healing ebook, you will be guided to create, personalize, and perform rituals, ceremonies, exercises and meditations designed to:

How to Meditate on Love

From Rituals For Love and Romance: Attract Your Soulmate with Self-Love and Ceremony (HealingEbooks, May 2009).

Spring is upon us. This is the time when the heart reawakens from the darkness of winter.

This new spring is a wonderful time to reclaim your birthright and take a stand for your own self- worth and innate ability to love and live in the embrace of love.

It may be tough to open your heart when: you have had trouble with love in the past; you have been horribly disappointed and had your heart broken by people you've loved; you are lonely, angry, unhappy, sad, worried or bummed out; you believe you can’t find true, lasting, soulful love because you’ve not found it yet; or you have lost love.

But springtime is a great time to make a new choice – right now – to reclaim the innocence of the heart and reconnect to soulful love.

Cupid and His Soul Mate, Psyche

CATEGORIZED AS: Sacred Relationships

By Rev. Laurie Sue Brockway

Cupid-and-Psyche-1796-Posters.jpg

Valentine’s Day is upon us. Let's talk about Cupid – and his soul mate Psyche.

The image of Cupid is embedded in our collective consciousness as the representative of romantic love. He is especially an icon on the holiday of hearts. However, depicted as a cherub with an arched quiver, it is difficult to look toward a baby with a bow and arrow to take care of all your love needs.

That’s where Psyche comes in. She is the loving woman behind the male, and she helps rule the game of love that is Cupid’s domain.

When you see Psyche and Cupid together, you come to know the Love God in his fullness (less of a baby, and more of a hero and lover). It could be that with her inspiration, his arrows can reach great distances, and travel far and wide to help people find love.

I like the myth of Psyche and Cupid. At first glance, it seems she is a victim of hideous circumstance: Her mother-in-law is out to get her; her lover abandons her; she is tricked and deceived; and she is put through hell for love. Every feminist bone in your body wants to scream out: Wake up girl. Why sacrifice so much of yourself for this guy?

A Jewish Legend About Soul Mates

CATEGORIZED AS: Sacred Relationships

An old Jewish legend tells us that when two certain souls are created in heaven, an angel cries out, “this man is made for this woman!”

It is said this if these people meet on earth and recognize each other for who they truly are, they will fall in love and become as one, working together in unison.

Then no hardship can altar the strength of their enduring love. Everything they do shall succeed.

Valentine's Day Can Bring Cheer to Our Nation

CATEGORIZED AS: Sacred Relationships

By Rev. Laurie Sue Brockway

Frog and frogget large.jpg

I want a Valentine's Day date! Don't you? It is time to reclaim the holiday of hearts, even if I am an old married lady.

Especially in this time of financial crisis and messy personal problems faced by so many, Valentine's Day can bring a little much needed cheer to our nation.

I remember the days when one of the most enduring quests of womanhood was securing the perfect date on Valentines Day --or even an imperfect date. You could be single for every other day of the year, but on that day, none of us wanted to be alone.

If no boyfriend was in sight, we would scout potentials and hope someone would arrive in our lives just in time for February 14.

Sound desperate? I think it was just the norm, the reality of being a girl when I was in my teens and 20's and beyond.

I used to see a Valentine's date as a validation that I was loved -- or someone liked me. Part of my self-esteem hinged on whether I was popular enough to have a date!

How to Have A Successful Relationship

By Rev. Laurie Sue Brockway
Excerpted from 'FInd Your Spiritual Soul Mate'

Are you are in between relationships?

This is a great time to reflect on important pointers on getting ready for love.

Prepare now so that you will be able to receive love and truly deal with a relationship when Cupid’s coveted arrow finally does pierce your heart!

1. Develop A Relationship With Yourself, First
The person you must fall in love with first is you. Too often people seek out others who will fill some inner need, as opposed to someone with whom you can truly share life. It’s important to recognize the distinction between "neediness and having someone," and "love and sharing from the heart." Dysfunctional relationships are born out of unions between people who don’t really know what it means to love, honor and cherish. People who love, honor and cherish themselves--or at least strive for it--are more capable of both giving and receiving that from a mate.

Lisa's Wishes for Love

CATEGORIZED AS: Advice , Highest Love , Sacred Relationships

For many years I had a special altar where I would keep the prayers of those searching for love. Recently, I decided to make it a cyber prayer wall. Here is a recent prayer from Lisa; she asked me to share it here. To leave your love prayers, go to The Soulmate Project.

Dear Rev. Laurie Sue -- I had read about your love altar and I was not sure if you are still accepting love wishes to include on it, but wanted to ask anyway. This is not so much a romantic counterpart wish but this is my “love dream." -- Thank you. Kindly, Lisa

Lisa's Ultimate Love Wish

My love wish is to finally fall in love with myself. For far too long I have denied my own inner goddess and silenced my voice. I have allowed what others have said to me to continually bring me down and tarnish the way I view and feel about myself.

Love Wish List for the Relationship of Your Dreams

CATEGORIZED AS: Advice , Sacred Relationships

By Rev. Laurie Sue Brockway
from Wedlok.com

Looking for true love? Dreaming of meeting your soulmate? Or hoping to spruce up or heal your exisiting relationship?

Here's a special technique for letting the universe know you are ready for love:

Write a wish list of attributes that you look forward to experiencing in a relationship with your true love. Writing is a powerful way to turn dreams into reality. Written words make our goals clearer. They make our intentions firmer.

The list of relationship attributes can be anything you sincerely choose. For example:

* When we look at each other it feels like we are the only two people in the universe.

* My partner sincerely encourages my success.

* Together we create financial security and always have more than enough.

* We share the same or similar spiritual beliefs

* We love doing the same things.

* We have many spiritually aware friends.

Etc., etc. etc.....

Add to your list as new things come to you. Read it at least once a day for 30 days. This will reinforce these qualities and help you to write them across your heart.

To empower your own journey, do a good deed, and pray for others in search of love, or who seek healing for their relationships.

Pet Prayers and Blessings Interfaith Ministry

CATEGORIZED AS: News , Sacred Relationships , Trends

We love our pets. And statistics show that we are willing to spend oodles on our poodles, kitties, horses and other animals, keeping them well groomed, stylishly attired, fed, happy, healthy and safe.

Pet Prayers and Blessing bn.jpg

More than 70 million American’s share their homes with cats, 60 million with dogs, and 2 million or so more with domestic birds. At least 65% of all homes in the United States include at least one pet.

For many of us, pets are as much a part of the family as any human member.

"That is why we are seeing more and more pooches walking down the aisle or bearing rings at weddings," according to Rev. Laurie Sue Brockway and Rev. Victor Fuhrman , interfaith ministers and authors of Pet Prayers and Blessings: Ceremonies & Celebrations to Share With the Animals You Love , due out from Sterling, August 5, 2008.

They have observed in their ministry work, and their own lives, that many owners recognize the divine nature of all “creatures great and small."

Pet owners consider their relationships to their animals sacred and essential. So the Reverends Brockway and Fuhrman, a married couple, treat prayers, healings and celebrations for pets in the same way that they treat human events they officiate of preside over.

Since they cannot be there in person to bless every pet, they have launched the Pet Prayers and Blessings Interfaith Ministry on Beliefnet.com's social networking community. There, soulful pet owners can chat, request prayers and prayer for one another's pets in this spiritual community.

The Pet Prayers and Blessings ministry on Beliefnet.com will be guided with the help of prayer maven and prayer circle expert Judy Newman.

Pet Prayers and Blessings, the forthcoming book, is a unique collection of blessings that specifically addresses the spiritual needs of modern-day pet owners .

Besides offering original prayers and adaptations of classics, it explains how to lead rituals and celebrations, and provides advice on involving pets in spiritual events, including those conducted by the clergy.

Although the book includes and honors many faiths, it is non-denominational and non-religious, and encompasses elements from many cultures and traditions.

There are healing prayers for ailing animals, ceremonies for special occasions (such as the arrival of a new pet), and blessings for a long and happy life with your animal companion.

You can preorder Pet Prayers and Blessings at www.bn.com.
